Mohammad Haider · Charlottesville, VA
Math, stats and coding tutoring, in Charlottesville and online.
One-on-one help that goes at the student's pace. I explain things a few different ways, we work problems together, and you leave each session knowing what to practice next.
Email mhaider.biz@gmail.com. My schedule is wide open right now.
Who it's for
K-12 students
Elementary math through calculus. Catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead.

- Statisticsfrom reading graphs and averages to probability, hypothesis tests, and regression
- Intro programming and CSfirst steps in code, problem solving, and the core ideas of computer science

Why me
I'm a software engineer, and I use math, statistics, and code every day.
- B.S. in Statistics from Virginia Tech.
- Software engineer at Microsoft from 2021 to 2024, working on data and financial reporting systems.
- Data analyst at the University of Virginia from 2025 to 2026, turning messy questions into clear numbers and dashboards.
So I can show students where the math they're learning actually gets used. I also build small interactive math toys, like the ones on learn.mhaider.dev, because moving a point around and watching the average shift is often worth more than a page of notes. You can see more of my work at mhaider.dev and github.com/haidmoham.
Teaching kids
career dayFor a career day, I built a game live with a class of about 12 kids, ages 8 to 10. It's a toy-brick battle game called Mega Brick Battle, and the class decided what went into it. Afterward I took their feedback and added what they asked for in the next version.
Building it in front of them was a good reminder of how I like to teach. Kids learn fast when they get to make the decisions, guess what will happen, and then test it to see if they were right.
How it works
- Free intro chat. Send me a quick email. We'll set up a short call to talk about where the student is, what's tricky, and what the goal is.
- A plan. I'll suggest how often to meet and what we'll focus on first. No long commitment.
- Sessions. We work through real problems together, and I'll leave a little practice in between when it helps.
In person

Online
Video call with a shared screen or whiteboard. Works from anywhere.
Rates: coming soon. Ask in your email and I'll let you know.
Questions
What ages do you work with?
K-12 students, college students in intro courses, and adults learning data science.
Do you meet in person or online?
Either. In person in Charlottesville, or online from anywhere.
When are you available?
My schedule is fully open right now, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Tell me what works and we'll find a time.
What does the intro chat involve?
It's free and short. We talk about the student, the subject, and the goals, and you can ask me anything. There's no obligation to book sessions afterward.
How much does it cost?
Rates are coming soon. Ask in your email and I'll share them.
Can you help with homework or test prep?
Yes. We can work on current homework, review for a test, or go back and fill in gaps from earlier topics.
Should a parent be there for sessions with kids?
Parents are always welcome to sit in, especially with younger students.
Let's find a time.
Send me an email with the student's grade, the subject, what you're hoping to get out of it, whether you'd like in person or online, and some times that work. The button below fills most of that in for you.
Or write to mhaider.biz@gmail.com directly.
